Colorado National Monument

Before leaving the Junction West RV Park in Grand Junction we went to the Lavendar Festival in Palisade and visited Colorado National Monument.

Desert Bighorn Sheep

We weren't sure what to expect when we went to the Lavendar festival in Palisade. It was a small festival at a park in town but nice. There were many products made from lavendar. I got some knuckle balm which I use on my cuticles and other boo-boos like the wounds on my knees I would get from falling down in the gravel at the RV Parks. We went to the Palisade brewery for lunch.

The next day we spent at the Colorado Monument. Here we saw a female desert big horn sheep and our first collared lizard for which we had been searching for several weeks. I was determined to find one of these lizards. This is one beautiful lizard. We ate lunch in a shaded area which we had to ourselves. It even began to sprinkle near the end. So peaceful.

Independence Monument

We hiked the Devils Kitchen Trail and part of the Rim Trail. After that it was just too hot.
